Book Reading Day Event, 30th December 2023
Welcome readers! This blog is about the Highlights of Book Reading Day Event. Imagine a day dedicated entirely to the joy of reading books - that is what the Book Reading Day event on 30th December, 2023 was all about! That is how bidding farewell to 2023, and welcoming 2024. It was like a big gathering of friends who shared the same excitement for reading. The event reminded everyone that how awesome books are and how they bring people together through the amazing world of storytelling.
□ ' I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of Library.'
- Jorge Luis Borges
□ 'A book is a gift you can open again and again.'
- Garrison keillor
□ ' The beauty of books lies in their ability to transport you across the globe without taking a step.'
Reading should not be confined to a specific day; instead, it should be embraced every day. Library Committee leaders - Pooja Bhuva and Insiyafatema Alvani orchestrated a Book Reading Day titled 'An Introduction to the Another World'.
Dilip Barad, sir, introduced the boundaries of thoughts and the intersection of technology and books. He read excerpts from the novel "Ret Samadhi" both from his phone and the pages, creating a bridge between the modern and ancient realms of reading. "Ret ki Samadhi" by Geetanjali Shree, the first Hindi fiction novel to win a Booker Prize in 2022, has been translated into English by Daisy Rockwell and is titled "Tomb of Sand." Additionally, Harish Minashru's two poems offered a unique perspective on how books helps us to explore another world.
During our reading event, students from the 4th and 2nd semesters explored various short stories from English and Gujarati collections. Megha Ma'am suggested offering the moral or central message of each story to enhance everyone's comprehension. The Reading Day involved not just the task of reading but also listening. Readers effectively read, while listeners absorbed the content. The event was a great and mesmerizing experience for all. The Reading Day event was split into two segments, with Insiyafatema Alvani hosting the first part and Pooja Bhuva hosting the second. Special thanks to ICT Committee leaders Rajeshvariba Rana and Ghanshyam Katariya for diligently recording the entire event.
